Hi One & All
I have been able to obtain a Aero - Naut Pilot boat at a good price, the thing is can any one shed some light on just were the water line should be on this model?
The person that made it has just put it along the joint of the hull side and bottom panels, so it just looks as if it is sitting on the water and not in the water, also it is very tender.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Fred

Fred - I sent you a message - I have found the Manual online. If you let me have your email address I will send it to you.
I am considering this as my next model, although I have bought a wooden kit of a trawler.

Good Morning One & All
Thank you for your reply's
In answer to Swab yes that is the one, and going on the picture he has put the waterline in the right place, but it just doesn't not look right, as I said it looks as if she is sitting on the water and is very tender, I think I will move it to were I think it should be.
Barriew GO FOR IT. and thank you for spending the time looking for the online manual, I got the online and the original one with the boat, it just not saying were the waterline should go, Barriew I do not know if you are on one of the other sites but there is a build log of this kit, and looking at mine you will have no trouble in building one, its a bit like doing an Airfix kit, in fact if I had not got this one for £50 I would have got myself one at some time.
Thanks' Lad's
Fred

Hi one & All
Have been looking at a few video's on YouTube of the Pilot boat and it looks as if the waterline is in the right place on mine, so I will leave it as is for now.

Hi Brian
I should have said that I had sold her and closed the page,
This is how the new one is looking as of today. So far I have removed all the windows so that I can replace the glassing, filled and repainted all of the model, the reason behind the filling was due to the original builder just gluing all the parts together, making no attempt to cut and file them to fit, one part of the hull was so far from the correct fit that he used Sellotape to cover the gap, as for the paint that he used it was some form of house paint, I did flatten it, but in places it still shows, it is not the best paint job that I have done.
Let me know when you may like to have a skype.

Hi Fred,
I definitely think you should start a refurbishment log on this pilot boat. I will also help the newer guys to this hobby to see how things get done.
Send me a PM and then we can arrange a chat.

Hi Martin
I feel that I have now gone pass the point of doing a log on this, if I had made a new one then I would have done a log.
I will say that having had two, it seems like a very easy build.
Looking at the boats and reading all that I could find on the web I would very strongly advise any one that this would make a good first build, it is not a fast build even though all the parts are pre - cut and you get interlocking taps to help keep it all square, the filling is only to hide the tabs on the outside, you can add LEDs to the cabin - control dash and Nav lights, all in all a good kit.
Keep Safe
Fred

Hi One & All
O.K so with doing this refurb I had to remove all the stickers that had been fitted onto the boat, one of which was the call sign on the windbreaker.
Now would be the time to try making some of my own, I ordered some water-slide decal paper for ink jet printer from Gecko Paper https://www.geckopaper.co.uk at a cost of £1.99 per sheet, I only got one sheet just to see how it would work, all I did was work out the size and font that I would need and used word to make the template, printed off a test copy and if it looked O.K I would then print it onto the decal paper, one thing that I will do in the future is work out all the things that I will need for the boat before I print them on to the decal paper, Gecko do give you an idiot proof set of instructions, as you can see from the photo (sorry its not more clearer) I think I got it right so if I can do it with only one brain cell any one can do it.

Hi Fred, You are working wonders on the boat and the decals look the part too. Well done. Not long now and she will get her bottom wet.

Thank you for the link, but for this boat I think I will give it a miss, it is just to much effort to put any extra items into her, any way this boat will be for the grandchildren to play with.

Hi Martin
For some reason I don't think so, the granddaughter is playing drums in the school band, so I will try and encourage her to get into a rock group, as for the grandson he goes from one thing to anther at the moment.

It is a shame Fred. We need the younger generation to keep the hobby of model making alive.
