whats everyone up to??

Having suffered an extended leave of absence from the forum I am just starting to catch up with events and personally looking forward to a summer of good sailing weather though prob not too much building.

I have dragged my Slo-Mo-Shun IV out and dusted her off ready for, I hope, some good weather tomorrow and a session chasing the ducks on my local pond



That's her with a fresh coat of varnish and a new bigger prop already so now it'll prob rain tomorrow lol

So what is everyone else up to????

Having a nightmare with my tug hull painting. Everything has gone wrong, from it getting rained on just after spraying to the darned masking tape pulling some paint off when I removed it. Not sure whether to rub down and start again or weather it so it looks right..

When things like that happen I tend to step back and have a breather mate.

Thankfully I got a break in the unwanted bad weather lunchtime today and the old lady of seatlle gave a good account of herself with the new larger prop installed just a minor balance issue to deal with and she'll be perfect

Hi mate got right into my fishing this last year!!,congrats to you and Pam mate,not done much boat building,but am hoping to get out sailing soon.If you want to meet up give me a shout mate:)

I'll keep you in mind mate won't be next weekend got something else on but want to give both the exeter and burnham lads a visit some time soon so get the good weather ordered eh

you're lucky mate.......I'm having a night mare with my kidneys........3rd visit to A & E inside a week last night.....passing kidney stones like shelling peas, and the infection..........well I don't wanna go there.......

anyway saw our old family gp ( not so old but just moved somewhere else) last night, and he put me on anti b's for kidneys and not the lower end ( if you get the drift).......only had two since last night, but feeling better already.....hopefully.

but boy, does having to leave the workshop for a p every five minutes play havoc on the hull spraying, lol

Sorry to hear you are not to hot I believe it is very painful, so can you imagine how your wife felt passing the equivalent of a 7lb kidney stone go buy heir some chocks..

there is an up side when painting it stops you putting to much paint on like I do (oh ill just put another coat on then it all goes pair shaped every time ) I hate paint but wont let anyone paint a boat for me.



anyway hope you are feeling better soon, the build has been a fascinating incite

Wow Neil, those kidney stones can be very painful. Hope you get them sorted out soon......Now stop complaining and get back in that workshop!!

Hell Neil last time, in fact the only time, I had kidney stones and passed them felt more like marbles than the .5 mm they reckoned lol

hopefully I've been ok today but for a little indegestion....and I put that down to the strong anti b's I'm on...so may be the worst is past.lol.

in my limited experience once the stones are passed its pretty much all down hill however in the future make sure you keep well hydrated mate

as once you've had stones apparently you become more prone to them but they are easily prevented by drinking lots of water, especially in hot weather!

I spent a night in hospital last friday/saturday undergoing test for the continuing pains in the kidneys........after blood and urine tests, xrays and scan, plus a prostate investigation I got a good clean bill of health except for one thing..................I was chonically constipated...............and they did the unthinkable........gawd.....I won't discribe it, but the pains have lestened and with the help of sena tablets, plenty of orange juice, vegitables and liquorice sticks............I will revert to normal in the next few days, lol..............my wife always said I was full of it, lol

Hi Neil. It must be the medication your on to do that. I'm on "Codeine" which is well known for causing constipation, and i'm on "Metformin" for Diabetes which fills me full of wind which is quite painful at times, i'm going to see the Quack this Friday to sort it out.
So were a couple of old crocks together hey? .
Be careful with the Orange juice though, it can give you "Gout" which is VERY painful, i have had it, and you don't want that believe me.

Doctors never tell you the side effects of keeping you alive and functioning we seem to just wear it sand keep going I'm finding it hard to eat totally fat free to keep the gall bladder from acting up.

It seems fame and notoriety has caught up with me lol at last visit to Neuro opthomologist I was asked because I was one of the longest survivor of my particular tumour ( a Prolictinoma of the pituitary) to be a test subject foe examination and Diagnosis by doctors sitting the Exams to become specialists all expenses paid.
I'll be in that might make a few bob too.
