| Hi Chaps I have an annoucement to make here
9 weeks ago my second daughter Lucy (31 in June) was admitted to hospital in sheffield with Viral encephalitis! a nasty affair to say the least! luckily she is now on the long road to recovery.
During the last few weeks myself and her big sister Julie who has born the brunt of looking after Lucy's 2 kids and the rest of her life while the hospitals do their job, a lot of support and advice has been given by the encephalitis society who are a wholy donation supported charity.
So it entered my head that if Neil can do it for the RNLI then why can't I do the same for encephalitis society so the germ of an idea is formed and having the 15 mile stretched of the Bridgwater Taunton canal and a need to build a paddle tug and barge I don't see why an attempt at an uninterupted navigation of said canal (locks excepted maybe) shouldn't raise some funds for this most worthwhile cause.
Any advice and suggestions or even offers of help would be most welcome.

| Thanks Damien to be fair its looking like this is about as good as it gets for her
she has good recall for most things over 12 months ago and progressively worse memory as you get closer to when she fell ill.
also her short term ie anything from 10 mins ago to 2 or more days is shockingly poor.
however the "experts" Have never dealt with someone quite so young 31 this yr, and they say its highly possible she will suprise them. Just hope so for the sake of her kids bless em
with any luck the society will put us and her medical supporters in touch with someone who has dealt with a case of someone in their early 30's hopefully giving them and her some other avenues to explore

| Thanks chaps
Neil thats a nice boat and definately a good size just 2 things I really thought more of a tug and by the time I've collected it from the borders I'd prob double what I'd have to pay for it as the seller is adamant he won't send it by courier even at my own risk. the offer of helping with a GRP hull is on the "consider list" many thanks.
Has any one got a set of tech drawings showing the workings of a feathering system for the paddles. I've a fair idea how they work but would like some confirmation although I'm not convinced I'll be going that route yet
Given that I'm looking at a fairly large vessel and hopefully a barge in tow as a nod to the waterways original purpose, and to carry additional bty capacity. I need 1st to get the ok from the waterway authority. Although that shouldn't be an issue as our club already has permission in place for model boating events at various locations along the canal at various times of the year. so the request has been duely filed and I shall start on the designs this weekend
Finally it occurs to me it would be a good idea to auction the model of after the event to boost the funds raised
