| Hi all, after a trip to Europe and Britain last year I found some photos that I took in Belfast's Titanic exhibit, my main base was in Belfast so I spent quite a bit of time there. If any of you go to Ireland this exhibit is a must see. It is built on the original site of the Harland and Wolf docks in fact the 2 cranes that worked on the Titanic are still working there. the local call them Sampson and Goliath, they can be seen from all over Belfast. The Titanic exhibit. The 2 cranes taken from the middle of Belfast. A closer look at 1 of the cranes. Some of the outside exhibit. Inside, you can spend hours and hour just to see everything, there is a section on the other industries in northern Ireland, like the linen mills all closed down now but the buildings are all made into apartments now that's a sign of the times isn't it. One of the old mills which are apartment buildings now. Inside 1 of the mills showing all of the looms. Now down to the Titanic the exhibit has thousands of photos and areas where parts of the ship have been copied for demonstration purposes, there are no restriction on taking photos or videos so there shouldn't be a problem if I post some here. The Harland & Wolf shipyard in full production. These photo is of the jigs that were made to support the structure it was 70' high the 2nd photo is part of the original structure it now houses the lift. Construction well underway. I am running out of hours in the day I have things to do today so I will post some more on my next visit here I have lot more photos and videos | |

| Thanks guys I am trying to sort out the photos in some sort of order before I post anymore, dum-ass me should have done that before I started any how I hope to get some more up later tonight or tomorrow. I't would not do to have the videos of the launch and the interior of the Titanic on before I show the photos of the ship being built would it? I had to rush off today to visit the Surrey Park Lake Model boat club but by the time I arrived there was only a couple of sailboats still on the water, but the facilities look very good. A couple of the men there that I spoke to said that next Sunday was a Steam day so hat will be more interesting to me anyway, so I will not be doing much on the boat next weekend. | |

| Yeah they are very friendly the only restrictions are no internal combustion models and fast electric have a designated time they can run. ash for a membership application form hand it in and they'll let you know when it's approved a bit stuffy though in the time I was a member no one was rejected the club house extensions happened just after I moved to Ballarat.
There's a very disabled wheelchair bound member that the modified his radio gear so that the gimbal control of his chair replaced the one in the transmitter they just plug him in when he arrives very ingenious. |

| Sounds good Damien I was quite impressed with the clubhouse facilities. Can't wait for Sunday. Well back to the Titanic. the next lot of photos are of actual parts in the process of being made. watched an interesting Doco about the Queen Mary 2 on TV tonight. Man I thought the Titanic was big this thigng is ji-normas This is the full length marking out floor. Some of the working drawings. Hand forming of large beam sections, all done with cam levers. Construction well under way, in the framework from an earlier photo. The rudder gear. The titanic had 16 huge boilers to get some idea of the size check out the man in the middle of the rows. This photo is of 1 boiler being lifted into the ship titanic burned 600 ton of coal a day, all hand shoveled. Geez and I thought I had a crap job. Props all 3 of them. maybe that's Irish little people standing under them. lol That's it for now guys I will post the last of them tomorrow, along with an amazing video at the end, taken from the working engine room to the bridge | |

| There are great things happening in the docks area of Belfast with the Titanic Expo and the movie studio where game of thrones was made. so the place is really buzzing.
This is a link to the titanic launch video so I hope it works. sorry about the start I should have tried to edited it somehow. there are still a few more to come.

| Sorry to say that there was reportedly No film of the Titanic being launched. The one shown in your movie is of the Olympic, which was the first of the line, so I am informed by the Titanic research Society. They say there was no ceremony or photographs at the launch either.

Here is a 45 minute film on the building of Titanic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZrzAnj0D5g
We often see pictures and films purporting to be the Titanic and some even have the tugs accompanying Olympic with their nameplate scratched away on the film. If you look at the promenade deck, the Titanic had the sides of the first class section covered to protect the people walking and taking the air. Also the bow section had a different number of portholes.
Hope this helps

| Sorry Tug I was under the impression it was the Titanic I'll have to change the title of the video when I find out how to do it. the next lot of photos are of the different classes of cabins for the passengers. This is a photo of the lifeboats. I have 1 more video to post | |

| This link takes you to the video I promised earlier it starts with moving images of the engine room then it takes you up through the floors to the various decks above. I took this video standing in a room with 3 walls that surround you these images appear on the 3 walls around you and it actually feels like you are in a lift going up through the floors. it's an amazing piece of technology. 1st the engine room then up to the staff dining room. Next the 2nd class cabins then the passengers dining room then on up to the great staircase that lead to the 1st class cabins. up through the great dome to the bridge.

And that folks is all I've got hope you enjoyed it. | |
