MID LIFE CRISIS OR.....JUST MADNESS.

I have just booked a test ride at our local Harley Davidson  agency.............haven't rode a bike in over 30 years, and that was a Beamer............am I going through mid life crisis or just going ..........mad, lol.

even had to borrow a helmet from my brother who already owns one.

Definitely MAD matey.

Sounds like you need a bucket list, could this be number one on such a list......................

Go for it Neil, I have 3 BSA bantams but would trade them all for a Harley

they have some great deals on at the moment matey.......I could go into the dealer tomoz if I wanted and ride out in a few days for 80 quid a month and was gobsmacked as to how little insurance for an 883 sportster was via compare the meercat....121 quid a year.............was paying that for my rocket gold star 43 years ago, lol

the object is though....was sent an email a few days ago that if I booked a ride through the harley site for one I stand a chance like any one else to win one of their new Dark Warriors( think that is what it's called) and a trip to Milwaukee to have the bike designed to my spec.......

I would have it designed  with a tank and guards shaped like a shannon lifeboat and two Atlantic 85 ribs............all painted in RNLI colours.......

I'd then auction it off at H & H or Goodwood in aid of the RNLI..............I'd much prefer an old classic or a beamer, lol...........nuts I know but one can dream, lol

I too pick up a Harley next Friday (an Electra Glide Ultra Limited) - hired it for a long weekend to see how I get on with it and to take part in the annual Ride To The Wall.....a commemorative ride from all points around the UK to converge on the National Memorial Arboretum near Lichfield for a service of remembrance to the fallen of our armed forces.  Some 5500 bikes and near 10000 bikers take part!!

Have 4 bikes at present - Pan European ST1100 (1996), 250 Superdream (1981), Yamaha XS400 (1978) & PCX125 scooter (2011).

I think as we get older, we require a ride that is more comfortable, at a gentler pace but is just as exciting!!! (ooer missus....)
