| I popped this in the 'other model section' for this very reason its not a boat! Time has yet again come around for xmas and the big question remains ''what do you buy kid's that have everything?'' The 'kid' in question is my daughter, after much thought (more by the wife then me) it was 'decided' (being threaten with a frying pan here) that Our Eldest would be getting along with the rest of the normal 'junk' a Dollshouse! ''Uff'' here we go again another impossible task in no time at all.... Well after some searching around the web ( i didnt get involved i just nodded and went mmmhmmmm most of the time) the Wife ordered a dollhouse kit, Then the wife had her most brilliant idea yet... 'hey hunny, you got 3 weeks till xmas get this painted and put together so I can see the look on her face when she pulls of that paper!' YA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (banging head against the wall at this point) needless to say SWMBO is getting her own way. (mind you its a nice break from doing nothing!) Anyhow ... here's the start of the project i have been working on, i have the next 12 days to get it finished..... (lets hope santa sends his elfs!) This is what it should look like ... And this is it's current state! Wish me luck, update in a few days! RR _________________ I'm Not Anti-Social, I'm Anti-Stupid.

| Think we need to know the time and date it was started, how many hours per day working on it, if it is going to be powered by brushed or brushless and if it's like the last one I built, will it be pebble dashed on the outside.
I remember years ago putting the last gloss coat on a 3ft wooden train on Christmas eve, yes it was dry, just.

| I know nowt about Dolls houses but that looks rather good version. As I have three granddaughters I expect to get involved one day.
Do tell us about the kit and where they are obtained etc. Do you have to hide it away while the glue is drying ? as I see your in the house.
More pics please.

| Until selling up prior to moving earlier in the year Jo had 2 that size completed and fully furnished right down to carpets and rugs she kept the furniture & and made Persian 1/12th rugs. This pic shows her 1940-50 doll collection, the middle section is all the 1/12th stuff. I built her a ROOM box with a picture frame front hinged and a magnetic catch to hold it closed she changes the setting occasionally never did get around to painting it lol and with the front open. Silly me sent her the link to this thread she proclaimed OOOOOHH weve got room for two I'm off to scour ebay. Like you mate she buys kits I have to assemble right now it's urgent. |

| Just at update guys and gals. Its 90% finished, just needs the external stone work, windows and door painted. The Door I'm leaving blank and i will let my daughter decide the colour. The only thing i wont be doing will be the roof, as we are fitting miniature roof tiles to it rather then the slate pattern paper effect. To answer one question, I've been building it at my parents home not at mine, as to keep it way outta the kids view b4 the day, tomorrow however its being moved to my workshop, so i can add the last few details to the front which should be interesting to say the least fitting that in my small space, but fortunately its only for a few days then it being put indoors in its permanent home. _________________ I'm Not Anti-Social, I'm Anti-Stupid.

| I would have thought the kit would come with scalloped tile strips in 3mm MDF either ready cut to length or cut yourself. Otherwise roof tiles in 1/12th scale are available on the net to print on your printer. |

Yes Damien, much more than usual lately as I have been on annual leave. All that ended last night as I am back in work tonight (even in X'mas day on major works). Very little Magic Mead from now because our Drugs & Alcohol policy is rightly one of the severest around ........... D&A with Railways just don't mix. Dave | |
