| Hi Mark,
just counted up the stanchions and to be on the safe side I would need approximately 70 -75 stanchions in total, but could make use of the white metal ones or even the plastic ones I made for the under side on the car deck if that many were not available.
Many thanks if you can come close as they would be a fantastic help.
cheers, neil. |

| I have gone the etched brass route for mine - but they are at 1:96, so unfortunately they wont be any good to you. Otherwise I would have gladly let you have as many as you needed. | |

| Glad it's all sorted mate Was down in sunny Cornwall this weekend and paid a visit to our friend Mick. Actually, I dropped him off a dirty great aircraft carrier that he had is eye on a while back. I bought it with all good intentions, but now, realising that I wouldn't get the time to do it justice, I gave him first refusal. So now he has another bloody great ship to find room for!!!!!!! Mind you, he has some lovely lifeboat models taking up space in the garage!!!!! He sends his regards | |

| Hi Neil, looking good mate.... I know what you mean about modern life saving equipment on older vessels, although ness nesc nescecery needed (& a requirement) it just looks unsightly & wrong, just look at the Waverley as she is now...

By the way what surprises did you uncover in your shed? Long lost chuck keys? Allan Keys? I bet there were some forgotten treasures!!! Keep up the good work my friend! Mick | |

| and now it's down to positioning the fittings on and around the lower deck first so that I can get the next deck in place. First thing are the vehicle securing plates. These were fitted to the deck to allow strops to be tied around the wheels and axles of the vehicles to the deck in very rough passages. the small square castings represent those tie location places. |

| Next is the Quadra legged main mast. This is going to be fabricated from 4 different diameters of brass tubing and brass rod.......all silver soldered together on a jig. |

| then it was just a case of jigging up the brass rod and silver soldering all the bits together. and the bit I had been dreading most was actually done in an hour. I'll clean it up tomorrow and then give it a bath in hot soapy water before washing again with thinners. |

hi Paul.........she's 59 inches long by 12" [ I think] beam cheers guys. getting a bit more done these days now all the resin cast fittings are cleaned n ready to paint, and that main mast was the next hurdle but it went together very easily. I find silver soldering far easier than soft solder and cleans off just as easily with diamond tipped needle files as they don't clog up like soft solder does. |

| Cheers Paul...........yes it is rather big...........I must stop building so big.............nowhere to put them soon, lol. Anyway did a little more this afternoon. I realised after looking at photos of the ship last night that it has cross members running beam to beam on the mast and so set about this afternoon cutting more materials for these. after measuring I made up ( what can only be called a brain fart) two sets of these frames........Don't know why because I only need 1 of each frame) I then jigged them all up and silver soldered them together and then soldered to the mast, which makes it now a very sturdy piece. the last shot shows the two extra cross frames........anyone building a Jupiter, lol |

| today has been a day of adding fittings to the inside and outside of the hull readying for eventual painting of the hull, bulwarks and decks so that I can put onto the decks the fittings for vents lockers etc...........but all has to go on in order. and so it was adding port holes hawse hole fittings and base plates for locating the main mast.. All of these were resin fittings made previously and cast in the rubber moulds previously shown. Bow port holes: Bow hawse hole surrounds: Amidships hawse holes: aft deck hawse holes inner and outer fittings. mast base plates, and with mast fitted, note that the upright legs have also been sheathed with ally (aluminium) tubing to bring it into the same diameter as the bottom legs of the mast. and finally a couple of general views as the fittings blend it to the general aura of the ship.

| then it was down to putting hinges and door handles onto the wooden doors for under the shelter decks.........made from brass wire. the insets ( which would be glass on the real ship) will be painted before gluing to the bulkheads |
